SUPPORT THE FILM

Why does it matter?

Simply: caterpillars, or lepidoptera, as they are known by those who study them. It turns out the very hungry little invertebrates that inspired a wildly successful childhood book series by Eric Carle are struggling to survive, due to the impact of human ecological systems like the turf lawns that have come to symbolize American suburbia.

The need to rewild our habitat exists everywhere we have populated and colonized the landscape.  THE WANDERING LEPIDOPTERA will work to tell this story within a larger framework of environmental justice and the re-incorporation of indigenous practices, with particular emphasis on the indigenous Lenape people of Delaware, where we will be focusing our film.

We hope this becomes the first step of many towards a new or deeper understanding of how humans connect with all other species, and even a new or deeper  sense of stewardship of our planet.
